16 members or the Club took part in the Championships on Sat/Sun 11/12 Sept 2010. This was the first time for a few years that the club had entered a team in this event and were amazed to finish in 4th place overall, men were 5th and women 4th overall. The standard was extemely high and it was difficult to even qualify for the finals of the individual events on the first day to score some points for the Club. The team events were on the Sunday and that was when we began to make our mark and even win some medals. Sea conditions were very challenging at times with some big sets coming through particularly when the tide was higher and they were rebounding of the cliffs on either side of the beach. It did make for a very exciting competition to watch and take part in and their were many very close finishes.

Emily Corin and Tarryn Brown won a silver medal in the double ski event and a bronze in the Board Rescue and Emily, Tarryn and Carol Penberthy won a bronze in the Ski Relay. We had quite a few 4th places, notably Jordan Roberts in the 2km run and Steve Penberthy & Tarryn Brown in the Mixed Double Ski and Tarryn, Emily & Laura Smith had 4ths in the Taplin and Board relays. Other team members were Tom Onley, Ben Jolly, Nick Trestrail, Wade Phillips, James Burlingham, Simon Peppler, Andrew Berriman, Ben Holtaway, Alan Roberts and Dave Parker. Emily, Jordan, Tom, Nick and Ben are all still Junior members and they did very well in their first Open event.
As previously mentioned we finished in 4th place overall, behind winners-Portreath, 2nd Woolacombe and 3rd Saunton Sands. Mens overall -1st Portreath, 2nd Woolacombe, 3rd Saunton Sands, 4th Perranporth and 5th Hayle. Womens overall – 1st Woolacombe, 2nd Portreath, 3rd Bude and 4th Hayle.

The results of the SuperClub were announced at the end of the 2nd day – this is the total of all the National events through out the year – Saunton Sands have won it for the last few years but this year Woolacombe came out top, with Portreath 2nd, Saunton Sands 3rd and ourselves a fantastic 4th. Very well done to everyone in the club who has competed at a National event and contributed to our overall points total.
