Another excellent result for our Club members at the Senior National Surf Life Saving Championships at Polzeath on 10/11 Sept 2011, they finished in 5th place overall only 1/2 a point behind Saunton Sands!  Emily Corin had another excellent event with a gold in the Ski race and a bronze in the Board race rewarding all the training she has put in this year.  Jordan Roberts and Amy Jolly had a silver each in the 2km run and Nikki Russell won a bronze medal with Emily Corin in the Board Rescue. Other noteable results were a 7th for Tom Onley in the Surf race, a 9th place for Dan Latham in the Board race (it took him 20mins to get out through the surf!) and a 4th for Daire Peters in the 2km run.

Very hard working Team Manager, Alan Roberts, said “It was an extremely tough competition, the swell had reached double overhead by the end of the first day and sea conditions were so bad on the Sunday that the sea events were moved to Daymer Bay where things weren’t much better.  The team did extremely well, particularly our younger members who are still Juniors, they coped admirably with everything that was thrown at them putting into practice all the training they have been doing and the life saving skills they have learnt.”  A full list of the results can be found on the SLSGB website at Click on Sport and then select Results.
