The 21 members of Hayle Surf Life Saving Club who attended the recent British Youth Life Saving Sport Surf Championships at Portreath should be very proud of their efforts over the two day event which put all their lifesaving skills to practice in a mix of individual, paired and team events in the sea and on the beach. They equalled their 5th place overall of last year and came away with 5 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze medals and some silverware.
Team Manager, Alan Roberts, said “I am extremely proud of all the team, they have put a lot of effort into their training this year and it has again paid off with some outstanding results and an excellent 5th place overall against some stiff competition from all the other clubs that attended the championships. Thank you to the parents who helped out on the day and all those who have supported their children and the club this year and to Surf Life Saving GB for the excellent event.”
Parent, Vikki Corin, said after her daughter Emily’s outstanding success “Personal development and improvement is not only satisfying and rewarding for the individual for the hours they have put in, but also for the club support around them who have supported, trained, guided, encouraged and believed in that individual in many cases from a Nipper. I say thank you to all those individuals that give up their free time in the name of surf life saving and share their experience and skills.”
