Nippers from Hayle Surf Life Saving Club are celebrating after achieving an excellent result at the National Surf Life Saving Championships, achieving an impressive 5th place overall.

A small team of 27 nippers aged between 8 – 13yrs attended the Nipper National Stillwater Championships at Millfield School in Somerset. Twenty seven clubs took part from across the country with approximately 500 children taking part in a variety races including individual events such as: swimming with fins; rescuing a manikin; nipper board race. Paired events such as: board rescue; torpedo rescue and a medley relay to finish.
Every member of the team tried their absolute best in this extremely competitive event, many of them improving on their personal best times and enabling us to gain points for a top 16 position.
Team manager Traci parker, said: ” It is a great result and thanks so much to all the Nippers who did so well and who were an absolute pleasure to manage on the day.” Everyone gave their best, and the results followed.
Medal winners were:
Abé King age (8)- Silver in flipper race; Mia Rule (10) – Gold in flipper race; Tanni Smitham (11) – Bronze in flipper and manikin races; Lily Parsons (12) – Gold in flipper, Silver in manikin and Silver in rescue tube; Niamh Symons (12) – Silver in rescue tube; Steven Lewis (13) – Gold in flipper, Silver in board rescue and Gold in tube rescue; Connor Keeler (13) – Silver in manikin, Silver in board rescue and Gold in tube rescue.
The rest of the team members, who contributed with the points, all helped to achieve a result of 5th place. They were: Charlie Parker, Isaac Aldridge, Sonny Breslaw, Finlay Bones, Ellie Doe, Alanis Treloar, Ryan Harrison, James Salter, Callum Jolly, Olivia Yabsley, Jago Mottart, Ross Keeler, Max Pickin, Katie Smith, Lewis King, Mathew Railton, Ethan Treloar, Archie Pickin, Sam Smith and Charlie Railton.

The club is now resuming Sunday morning sessions back on the beach, commencing on Sunday 5th May 10:00-12:00 for Nippers and 12:30-13:30 for Sandhopppers.
