The team of thirty eight Nippers aged between 8-13 years from Hayle Surf Lifesaving Club put in an excellent performance at the Great Britain Life Saving Sport Championships held over two days at Portreath.

‘Every child can be proud of their efforts and achievements in challenging surf conditions’ commented Team Manager Traci Parker. ‘For a small team they all did fantastically well to contribute points in helping us to finish with a score of 1122 points and in 6th place overall’ she added.

Alex Pace in the boys 13 yr olds 1km run, Morva Hughes & Sophie Morris in the girls 12 yr olds board rescue, Lily Parsons in the girls 10 yr olds swim and Niamh Symons in the girls 10 yr old wade were all crowned as National Champions with Lily Parsons & Niamh Symons also teaming up to take the 10 yr old girls board rescue title.

There were also superb performances to finish as runners up with silver medals by Ben Friday (10 yrs boys beach flags), Morva Hughes (12 yrs girls golden nipper) and the quartet of Alex Pace, Josh Leeds, Max Armstrong & Liam Jolly (12/13 yrs boys sprint relay).

Third place bronze medals were won by Sophie Morris, (12 yrs girls swim & golden nipper), Tanni Smitham (9 yrs girls swim), Niamh Symons (10 yrs girls sprint), Lily Parsons (10 yrs girls board), plus the teams of Lewis King, Max Hancock & Harley Perry (8/9 yrs boys board relay) and Alex Pace, Josh Leeds & Liam Jolly (12/13 yrs boys board relay).
