On Thursday 19th April 7.30pm there will be a meeting at Newquay Sport Centre for members, parents, club coaches and Team Managers who are interested in developing the Sport of Surf Life Saving in Cornwall and assisting the Region in setting up a Cornwall Squad.
The Celtic Cup will be held in Cornwall this year on the weekend of 22nd/23rd September and we would like to be able to put forward a Youth Team and a Senior Team as France, Spain and Ireland have expressed an interest to compete. It will be a pre world Champs completion.
Cornwall would also like to send a team to the Atlantic Water Sports Games which will be held in Brittany, the age for this team will be 16-21years
In view of these 2 events the region will organise training weekends, the first will be on 12th/13th May. On the Saturday there will be a meeting for 13-21yr olds with their parents and club coaches. The region need to get funding for the teams for these events, so forming a sub-committee would be a good idea to try to get sponsors on board. The Region will put in funding towards these events but we also need sponsorship to raise the profile of our teams and to provide coaching for the squads.
Please pass this information on to any of your members who may be interested.
