Payment by cash or cheque please: payable to Hayle SLSC. Payments by instalment are available – please speak to person on the register desk or a Nipper coach. As you may know, we have experienced a large influx of children over the last couple of years. In order to ensure a good experience for all current members, we stopped taking new nippers and sandhoppers at the end of August 2017. This is not something we have taken lightly, but we do not want to compromise the experience of existing and loyal members. At the time of print, there are 70 chidlren waiting for spaces.
The waiting list will operate as it has in the past: any child missing three or more consecutive weeks of trainig will lose their space. Club and SLSGB membership will remain open, allowing the child to be put back on the waiting list, if they wish.
The three-week rule will come into effect on 1st October 2017.
We are aware that some children only participate in the pool sessions, and not the beach ones. Until now, this has been fine, but when we have a large list of children who would like to join the club and participate all year round, it is unfair that spaces are taken up by those only wishing to train in the pool. For this reason, the three-week rule is used throughout the summer also.
We understand that, as a surf life saving club, some children are only interested in joining our beach sessions, and not the pool ones. Space isn’t limited at the beach in the same way as it is at the pool – if you do not wish to participate in the pool sessions but wish to rejoin us as we go back to the beach, please speak to a nipper coach or the ladies on the desk.
All children already attending sessions have a secure place for the pool: if you are new, please ensure membership is paid as soon as possible. If your child has extenuating circumstances that will cause them to be absent for more than three weeks, please discuss this with a nipper officer at the earliest opportunity.
Our children are a sporty bunch and often have other clubs on as well, which is great. Unfortunately, we cannot save a child’s training space because they choose to attend other sports clubs instead. That said, our pool sessions only start when the rugby/football season kicks off in earnest. So, nipper/sandhopper training moves to a Saturday evening, just as matches start on a Sunday.
If you have any questions or extenuating circumstances, regarding this policy, please speak to a Nipper Officer.
